Kawnsuhrts…

Since I hadn’t posted anything regarding the concert I attended on Monday, I shall.

Monday was turbo, and pretty much the best part of the whole day was flying down to Burbank in a Cesna. And the best part was definitely the part where I flew the plane at 7,500 feet for 20 minutes. That’s right. I was in control. It was awesome.

Anyways, the concert.

Got to Universal City, which was remarkably awesome to walk around. Got into the Gibson Amphitheatre, which was ver’ big and ver’ awesome. The seats the three of us got were way up under the balcony to the right of the Amphitheatre, which sucked, so we shifted down more center stage and got away with better seats. It was a good deal.

DecembeRadio came on first, and I thought they were good. They played three songs, rocked the opening up a bit, and I enjoyed it. Good stuff.

Next up was Relient K, and I must say I’m hooked. I’d always been an on-and-off fan, not too enthused about their older stuff, but I’ve gotta say they put on the best show of the night. From beautiful 5-part harmonies to one of the guys hauling out a banjo to one of the guys playing a glockenspiel (I mean, come on…a glockenspiel?! [I also want you to know I spelled that right on the first try]) They were remarkable. Hence me having their latest album on my iPod now. Scrumptious!

Jeremy Camp was up next, and I cannot lie, musically his band was amazing, and his lead guitar player made me want to chop off my hands and never play music again…but his music didn’t seem to fit the context. I can’t explain it better than that…it was good, but didn’t seem to fit. I’d seen him in an unplugged acoustic concert before, and that seemed to fit his style better, I think. Anyways.

Then Switchfoot arrived. And I was unimpressed. They had some cool showy stuff that they did, such as all of them freezing in place for around a full minute, Jon Foreman wailing away on a cymbal (during which it cracked and left the drumstick smashed into pieces) during one of the songs, then running out into the audience (security was on duty)…but other than that I didn’t think it was that great of a performance. The music was good(ish), but add in the fact that they were the last of four bands and I’d been rocking out to the first three, and it was around 10…I hear they’re better in just their own concert.

So yep. That was a pretty good day.

In conclusion, KJ-52 and LA Symphony are performing in our student center tomorrow evening. That should be interesting.
